Teacher's Comments
Tadashi Taniguchi
As of 1997, only one had an access to Internet among 22 sixth graders.
When I told them, "Would you like to create our home-page with a text and pictures taken by a digital camera?", no one had ever seen a home-page.
Despite of this situation , we decided to create our home page and had some time to think about the specialities of the school district.
The children made a plan of photo-taking in groups, based on the specialities they chose.
The deadline was coming and we had to hurryup.
The children helped each other and collected the pictures.
All of the pictures and text were done by them. After the home-page started to be on Internet, some locals called us to thank us, which encouraged all of us.
By 2003 Internet is supposed to connect all schools. A school home-page would be used as a business card to activate communication and interaction with other schools.
It is not good for us to be confused with developing machines and software.HOME
Instead, we need to utilize this new media by pursuing the true meanings of education.
