The area around Hase Station

Hase Station JR (railway)

This is Hase Station of Bantan Line of JR (railway). It's an unattended station now though there were some station staffs before. It's close to the mountains, so we can catch stag beetles and cicadas around the stairs at the station in summer. 2 years ago, we were surprised to see a big nest of wasps in the station house.
Hase Station was opened more than hundred years ago, the station house was rebuilt again and again.
In the morning junior-high and senior-high school students come to this station to take trains to school, and come back home in the evening. We all love this Hase Station very much. (Takamitsu Kurihara)

The Hase Police Substation

Near Hase Station there is a new-built police substation in a log-cabin style. There lives a gentle policeman, Mr.Okada.
Every morning he stands at a crossroads and directs us to follow the traffic regulations on our way to scool. We say "good morning" alound. He patrols on a bike in the afternoon and in the evening. He is a reliable policeman who always rushes up to the accidents and the incidents such as being robbed. (Yoshinao Komatu)

The tofu (bean curd) maker

This is a tofu(bean curd) shop in our town Hase. They wake up early in the morning and make bean curds some more than suppsed to be ordered.
You can enjoy bean curds anytime, as cold ones in summer, as boiled ones in winter. They makes fried bean curds, too. Cheap, handmade, healthy, and delicious bean curds are very popular among us. (Shingo Tateiwa)
