The activities of Hase Elementary School

As of Sept. '97, there are 58 pupils, 12 staffs in our school. We, the teachers and kids, all cooperate in our activities such as cleaning and labor services in groups consisting of 1st-6th grade kids together.
After the computers room was provided 2 years ago in our scool, we have been making good use of 9 computers in our studies.

Shishimai dance

At the Ichihara Shrine near Hase Elementary School, this Shishimai dance, a ritual dance with a lion mask, is dedicated for autumn festival. It has been handed down since the latter era of Edo (about 19th century). On the occasion of the athletic meeting in our school, 4th-6th grade kids perform the shishimai dance with our handmade lion masks every year. This year as usual we practiced it during our summer vacation under tuition of the members of the circle that tries to keep this traditional culture. We are trying hard, the 4th grade kids who experience this event for the first time this year are taught from the elders.

I myself found difficulty for the first time when I was in the 4th grade, but now I really enjoy it and I'm looking forward to the day, Sept. 21st this year. (Satuki Kurihara)

The breeding shed

10 years ago, we started breeding some rabbits and bantams in a large shed at the extra space next to the playground in our school. Anyone can touch and give them foods by permission of the committee that is in charge of breeding these animals. (Hiroyuki Uegaki)

Many rabbits were born this summer, so that the committee is now looking for schools that will feed these 2-month-old baby rabbits. Very cute !
